Personal Soul Archive: A Retrospective

Despite lasting less than a year, PSA provided a plethora of exciting feedback in the microcosm of the Drexel University community. This odd-formatted comic in the student run Triangle newspaper became a lightning rod for the social and administrative groups boldly targeted without censor. The content ranged from precise attacks on various fraternities and university policies to the worries about looming adulthood. Never taking itself too seriously, the strip became a soap box for the artist to make fun of himself, the medium, and growing up. Due to an unfortunate incident with a mob of drunk fraternity members, the artist pulled the strip in fear of continued issues.

The strip, unlike most comics, never had a serialized character. It's consistent box-like structure allowed an unique variation on how the title would be integrated into the theme while opening the canvas for a mix of white space and a seldom-used grid system. The illustration was often stark matching the content mood, while sometimes pattern based, relying on repetition to create the beauty. A short byline would always act as an epilogue or sign-off creating a feedback loop since an email address was included. Acting as a badge with vague origin and meaning, the number "19" in a circle can be found on each episode.
